and are set up by professional bass player or luthier ready to play.
We have the largest range of new double bass instruments in New Zealand
set up ready to play and compare in our showroom. Buyer beware, most other musical instrument retailers in New Zealand
do not set up the instrument ready to play and do not fit high grade
strings (strings alone are worth $300.00+!) By contrast all our instruments have had extensive work done on
them by our luthiers to ensure they are ready to play, we adjust and
correctly fit sound post, plane finger board, adjust nut and plane and
adjust bridge heights and feet. Finally we fit good quality strings.
All this amounts to hundreds of $ per instrument

We were extremely lucky to obtain this Lion Head Busetto
Pollmann, it has been on display in their factory and was to
have been taken to Italy to a musical instrument manufacters
show there in May where it would have no doubt been snatched
up by one of the great players there... Pete McGregor Music
beat them to it!

The name Pöllmann has been
firmly
established in the history of making double basses since 1888.
For their Master Contrabasses they exclusively use
tone wood aged for generations. They purchase tone wood on
a regular basis and therefore have different wood species
(spruce, maple, poplar, walnut, birch, willow…) and
also wood which is more than 160 years old.
Poellmann work closely together with leading international
Orchestras and Solo Players to advance their double bass making.
They create double basses in many different sizes
and measurements and varying varnishes, both for use as solo
instruments and in orchestras. As well as special models according
to customers´orders.
